WELCOME FROM THE VICAR

Hello and welcome to our church website, it’s always a real joy for us to meet new people, even if it’s via the website. Here you will find useful information about Christ Church Beckenham and more importantly, about what it really means to have a growing relationship with Jesus Christ.

There are lots of different things going on here throughout the week whatever your age, culture, ability or experience. Have a look around, drop us a line, give us a call or better still, come in and see us.

Whatever that next step is, it’s time to take a bold step, maybe even out of your comfort zone and discover what God has for you. We believe that you can’t go with God and stay where you are.

Rev Rob Hinton

WHAT TO EXPECT

Christ Church Beckenham is a Church that is committed to worship that reaches out to everyone, whatever your age, gender or ethnic background. It is a church where you can come and find a great welcome and where you don't have to know anything about Jesus Christ before you get here.

Our biggest service of the week is Sunday at 11:00 a.m. It's usually a mix of modern worship songs and contemporary hymns (you'll find something you like!). Our children and youth work happens in our halls - Sunday mornings for the children: CCBKids, and Sunday evenings for young adults (The Junction).  They run each week, except on the 1st Sunday of the month when we all stay together for a fully interactive All-Age service.  For more information, please contact Helen in the church office or visit our Children and Families section.

You don't need to be a church and God "expert" to come to CCB - if such a person really exists. Just come as you are!

Whichever service you come to someone will be at the door to greet you (if you feel brave enough tell them it's your first time).  Someone else will make sure you have everything you need to be able to take part in the service and you can sit anywhere. We aim to spot visitors in which case we will ask you if you want to be seated next to someone who will be a helpful friend during the service and over coffee at the end.

We'll tell you when to sit or stand so don't worry, there's little guess work involved.

One of the senior team will almost certainly come over and say hello before or after the service, but there's a big enough crowd to hide in if you want to keep a low profile at first.

The honest answer is, "We are learning."
We know that churches have not always been the easiest places for people of any ages who have additional needs. We want CCB to be a church that is a safe, compassionate and stimulating place for everyone and it so it's likely that we will need your help in getting it right.

We have a new member of staff, Kirstyn Oliver, who has a particular specialty in autism and she is leading us towards a greater understanding and welcome to those who need extra support and understanding. You can read more about her ministry by clicking here.

If you would like to speak to us about what help you would need to attend CCB please do get in touch.

Christ Church Beckenham is a church where Jesus is at the centre of our lives. "For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have everlasting life." John 3:16

CCB is a Church that believes the bible is the very best place to discover God's heart. We also believe that God has continued to speak throughout history in the lives and words of faithful people who have been inspired by the Holy Spirit. We believe that God is still speaking to the church and the world today and therefore, at CCB, we are an Evangelical Church open to the leading of the Holy Spirit trying to make a difference in an ever changing world.

We affirm the ministry of women in all aspects of church life, we believe that God's love is open to all, but that each of us needs to check our choices and actions against God's desire for our lives.

LIFE CHANGE STORIES

  • I had reached rock bottom. My addiction to alcohol had taken me there and I remember a nurse whom I had got to know during my years in and out of rehab telling me that this time they had admitted me as "dead man walking."
It was that final time that I entered the clinic that I truly found Jesus Christ and began the process of recovery. In Feb 2016 I will be celebrating 14yrs of sobriety and its just amazing in that time how my life has changed. I have experienced a freedom as I began to allow Jesus into every area of my life.
My faith continues to grow stronger and I am now able to share openly and honestly with others what God has done in my life and what a difference it makes having a Church family who I know continue to love and support me.

And Never give up on me.

I firmly believe we all need to help each other with our hurts, habits and hang-ups.
In the book of the bible called Isaiah it says "The people I have shaped for my self will broadcast my praises" and that is just what I intend to do.
Until recently I have had regrets about the years (just over 30) I wasted being drunk and especially what effect it had on my four children, bringing them up on my own.
I have gone through pain about why it took so much time before I was healed and I have been hung up on guilt. I have now accepted that that was God's timing and I have learned how God heals memories.
I now have a great relationship with my children which I thank God for daily.
God has brought good out of a ghastly situation and I want my testimony to be an encouragement to others and a witness to God's unfailing love.
