Hey everyone and welcome to another online Track Group. This week we ‘re continuing to follow along with the “live” Bible Project podcast series that is coming out weekly. We’re 1 behind, which is great because it means there is time to create a little resource to follow along with online. This series will use the Bible Project’s videos and have a few reflection questions to keep you thinking.

For Fun

For Thinking

This week, we’re thinking about what it means for the New Testament letters were written with a purpose: to announce that Jesus is Lord.

If you’re still asking: “yeah, but why letters though?” Tim says, “the letters are both the product and the fuel of the missionary movement of Jesus going out to all nations.” They pick up where the Gospels leave off. The letters prepare followers of Jesus for a day when they will also encounter new cultures and issues, so that they can navigate them with the wisdom and help of the Holy Spirit.

Basically, the letters are full of people working out what it means to call Jesus ‘Lord’ in their time and place.

  • What does Lord mean to you?
  • What does it mean for you to call Jesus Lord?
  • How does that claim change how you see worldly leaders?

For Digging Deeper

Galatians 3:27-29

For all of you who were baptized into Christ have clothed yourselves with Christ. There is neither Jew nor Greek, there is neither slave nor free man, there is neither male nor female; for you are all one in Christ Jesus. And if you belong to Christ, then you are Abraham’s descendants, heirs according to promise.

You might have heard it said that the Kingdom of God is an upside down Kingdom. Nothing highlights that better than Pauls words in the letter Galations. Paul points to all the categories that seperated people in his time and says that we are all one in Jesus… Jesus evens everything out.

  • What are the dividing words we might use today?
  • What does it mean for followers of Jesus to be heirs?
  • Why is it so hard to not see some people (maybe even ourselves) as better than others?

For Prayer

Why not spend some time praying through the claim that Jesus is Lord.
Where do you need to announce that in your life?
Where do worldly things rule instead of Jesus?
